Bug Description

I have a document that has graphics in it. When i open the document with open office under windows everything looks fine but when i launch dapper and open the document with openoffice it shifts my graphic to a different page. I would think since i am using openoffice on both systems that the document file should maintain it's integrity.

Note: the original reporter indicated the bug was in package 'openoffice'; however, that package was not published in Ubuntu.

This probably needs to be filed against openoffice.org . Which version of openoffice is the reporter using, can the errant document be attached to this bug (this would help a lot) and could we have a PDF or a graphic of the document looking as it should?

I am using the latest version of openoffice under dapper and the 2.0.1 version under windows. I can not attach at document at this time since it is a research paper that will be submitted to a journal. i would imagine if you create a simple document and paste some graphics into it and tried to open it under both environments it would do the same.

so, the files are here. the names should say all. in the capital one you can quickly see that the index is wrong and that the page numbers are not the same.
in the math one you can see on one of the pages that the thing i copied from mathematica is showing right in the windows version but not in the linux one. and there might be other differences.

after the last update one testcase was solved. now the second stays, but this is another bug i think, its about stuff you copy from mathematica into open office. the difference is on page 7 of the linked document. thank you :-)

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. With which specific version of the openoffice.org package did you notice this issue? You can check using the command 'dpkg -l openoffice.org'. Thanks in advance.

checked again, and the bug is still here.
look at this document on page 6: http://www.fryx.ch/Asraniel/OOo/math.odt

here is the output of the command you wanted:
sudo dpkg -l openoffice.org

Thanks for adding the urls.

I checked on Ubuntu 7.10 and the graphic in section 4 and 4.2 both look like some weird black mess is on top of the image. I am not sure what causes that though.

Thanks,

Chris Cheney

I tried looking at the document under OOo Windows and it shows up as screwed up on Windows also. I'll see if I can track down an old version of OpenOffice so I can verify it used to work right under Windows.

@OP: Is this still an issue? Does the document still look OK under the most recent version in Windows?

I wonder if the document is somehow incorrect.
