I am experiencing the same.

But apparently intrepid is not officially supporting openoffice 3, not even through backports: the package giving errors to us is a personal package among the personal package archives.

As a workaround, Sun's official openoffice from www.openoffice.org seem to work.
Not all languages have deb available, but rpms translated with alien seem to install fine.

As another workaround simply remove the openoffice-kde package.

This bug comes from the openoffice packs interacting badly with kde in intrepid. You remove the kde support and it works again.
