Can second that. Copying "dynamicDialog.py" into the python script directory as per
the following Document does not appear to have any noticable effect:

I also have this problem.

Does anyone know how to fix this?
I really want to use python to create macros!

"Work around":

 1. Remove all openoffice packages.
 2. Download and install openoffice from the official openoffice website [1].

Hi @all,

good News: This issue seems to be fixed in the newest openoffice updates, which could be found in the proposed software channel. You can add it in adept by clicking on adept -> manage repositories -> in the "updates" tab -> activate "proposed updates"

It would be nice if somebody could confirm, that this bug is fixed with the new packages.

Yesterday, I had the same problem on my 64 bit Hardy workstation.
But I couldn't install OpenOffice from the official website, so I formatted my workstation and installed the 32 version.
My work couldn't wait . . . :-/

Can someone also confirm if this bug is solved for 64 bit Hardy?

I don't have the time right now to remove the version I installed and install it form the Ubuntu packages.

Yes! "Hello World (in Python)" is there and runs.
I did exactly as Emanuel suggested (selected "hardy-proposed" in the "updates"-tab).
Deselected all packages except those beginning with openoffice.org.
Additional packages I had to download because of dependencies were: python-uno, ttf-deja-vu and ttf-deja-vu-extra.
I reset the "updates"-tab after download.
Anyway, thank you!
