Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

When OpenOffice 2.3 starts and ask if I want recover unsaved files. (=OpenOffice.org Document Recovery). The window is non-resizable. If OpenOffice is running computer with small screen, like height is 480 pixel, the window is automatically scaled to fit screens height. So it is too small and "Start Recovery" and "Cancel" buttons are not visible. I can move the window with ALT but because the window is non-resizable I can't make these buttons visible.
I can use tabulator and enter (blinded) so I get Open Office start.
I tested this with Xfce4 and openbox.

Is any part of OOo really usable at that small of a resolution?

OOo is very usable with small screen/resolution. Desktop-people usual thinks that small screen is not usable anything. Even Gimp is usable with sub-notebooks. Someday there will be an user that wants use OOo with palmtop or mobile phone.

There are other non-resizable windows too in OpenOffice, like toolpanel customization window.

I have the same problem, not with resolution, some extensions have a "cropped" non resizable windows and some buttons are not visibles. That is not an extension problem (i guess), is the GUI

I have the same problem with both OOo 2.4 and 3.0.0 on Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex) on a Toshiba Satellite L315, which has a 14'' screen.

Thanks for the tabulator fix, I hadn't thought of that! But it would still be nice to see the buttons, especially for when people first run into this problem. It actually made me late for work today :( (Well, this wouldn't have been a problem in the first place except that OO Writer kept freezing whenever I was trying to save something, then I couldn't figure out how to reopen it. I just installed 3.0.0, hopefully it won't freeze as easily.)

I add an attachment of an import window. It is not resizable and not the whole text can be read.

[This is an automated message.]
There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.
