format cells option crashes open office spreadsheet

Binary package hint: openoffice.org-calc

I am using Open Office calc 2.3. I was preparing a spreadsheet and attempting to format cells (i.e. change normal numbers to currency). Each time I try to perform this task Open Office crashes, immediately restarts; but the file is recoverable.

I am using Ubuntu 7.1
Gnome 2.20.1

I am a big fan of UBUNTU and Open Office.

   Open office 2.3.0 has known issues with some gnome desktop themes. (bug #131526)

   Can you say what version of openoffice you are using and what desktop theme please ?

Open Office version 2.3.0
Desktop Theme: Crux with a firefox wall paper and no visible effects.

Can you see whether you have any problems when using the Human desktop theme please ?

After receiving your last e-mail, I switched to the "Clear Looks" theme and
the problem went away.

Thank you for your help. It never would have occurred to me to change the
theme. I didn't find this bug when I searched the web site.
