gutswy Open Office 2.3 applications crash

Tried to paste data into both Calc and Write and application hangs, crashes and then restarts and tries to recover.

Open Office 2.3 and Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon

New to Linux but I have, per suggestions in the bug report, changed appearance preferences back to the default "Human" and have not been able to replicate the issue in Open Office.
