Sorry for not seeing this bug earlier.

The OpenOffice.org included in Ubuntu is the go-oo version. The go-oo version is the official Sun version with a lot of patches added to it. Most linux distributions actually ship the go-oo version without making a big fuss about it.

Oh and Novell never really forked OpenOffice.org, there are lots of patches in go-oo most of which Sun can take if they actually want to (they are sitting in their bug tracker filed against bugs).
