Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Hello,

I'm translating Ubuntu into Occitan and OpenOffice is being translated too. Ubuntu is in Occitan on my computer but OpenOffice remains in English.
Any idea how I could deal with this problem?

Thanks

Maybe because there is no language-support-oci as the other languages have?

Which version of Ubuntu do you have?
I can install the Occitan language pack on Gusty with:
aptitude install language-support-oc language-pack-co-base

I don't think it will solve your problem but, have you tried to change the softwares source to find a servor that has this package?

Indeed: this package just does not exist and I have no idea on how to have it created :-(

Thanks for the report. I really do not know what I could do in order to have it in Occitan on the computer. More and more applications are now in Occitan (upstream or with Launchpad) but OpenOffice is the only one translated here but not in langpack.

Am I just not looking in the right area? I don't see any of the standard language-support packages for oc at all in Intrepid.

No, you're right: despite more and more chains translated, there is no language-support for oc.

Is there already a bug report about this for the language-support-* bit?

I am not sure where that should be filed, maybe against ubuntu-meta since each language has its own source package you obviously can't file it against language-support-oc since it doesn't exist yet.

I don't think there is a bug filed for that and I'm not skilled enough to know where to file that :-(

The point is that there is no openoffice-l10n-oc package in the first
place. The language-support-* packages are meta packages which depend on
other packages.

The easiest way to deal with that problem is to do a rebuild of openoffice.org-l10n with the Occitan translations you have done. It appears that only ~ 16% of Ubuntu is translated into Occitan which is probably why there are no language-support packages yet.

I don't know how to do a rebuild of openoffice.org-l10n, sorry.
Upstream, there is slightly less than 70% of the exec translated but I don't want to spend time uploading the po files before I'm really sure it will have effect.
