Bug Description

Open office sometimes draw incorrectly, as showed in attachment.

Also sometimes controls and icons are becoming invisible (and then showing again for a moment if mouse cursor if over them or they get focus)

Ubuntu 7.10 amd64
btw, it may be a problem with xorg, or GTK, or nvidia, IMHO...

I'm using nvidia, closed drvier.

Besides that applications work ok.

(but opengl games somtime corrupt textures when switching to/from other VT - probably separate bug)

Fastest way to reproduce is to open oowriter
then right-click, choose paragraph options, and there there should be a glitch on the tabs on top of dialog window.

It happens all over the program, with varying frequency and severity.

I tried also using another QT theme - this time Polyester, and still exactly same thing.

Btw, the strange light-gray noise all over the screenshots where created when I used kscreenshot to do Region screenshot and then selected the region (selection border was improperly drawn when resizing it).

I use nvidia closed source driver,
ubuntu 7.10 amd64 (64 bit system and applications)
the system is up to date
I don't use compiz nor any fancy stuff about X.

Attached video (ogg video, i.e. totem player) shows how the menu and other GUI elements disappear when redrawing them...

All other programs work fine in this matter.

Hi limcore,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISOs are available from cdimage.ubuntu.com)

If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log?
Thanks in advance.

The output of lspci -vvnn would also be worth having.

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.
