libboost-mpi-python-dev fails to run with python on AMD64

consider a minimal file "test.py" that only contains the line "import mpi"

run it as: mpirun --np 2 python test.py

(assume LD_LIBRARY_PATH is correctly set so that the package mpi.so, which is provided by the package libboost-mpi-python-dev can be found)

upon running we get the error
python: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/openmpi/lib/openmpi/mca_paffinity_linux.so: undefined symbol: mca_base_param_reg_int

i am using the natty provided package with openmpi.
