Bug Description
Binary package hint: libopenmpi-dev
When libopenmpi-.dev is installed, it creates the following dangling pointers in /etc/alternatives:
slave libmpi.so: /usr/lib/
slave libmpi++.so: /usr/lib/

The *.so.0 files are non-existing. In fact, the .so.0 library is meant for the loader and should never be used for linking. These links must be corrected so they point to the correct .so targets.

Please find attached a debdiff correcting the situation describe above, which has given me problems compiling illuminator, whose configure script fails because it can not locate libmpi.so.
