Bug Description

Hi

OpenMPI has had support for the MPI_THREAD_MULTIPLE option since the v1.6.* branch. Would it be possible to enable it in this package?

This corresponds to adding the --enable-mpi-thread-multiple option when running the openmpi configure script.

Cheers

As long as https://github.com/open-mpi/ompi/issues/157 is open it seems not advised to turn on --enable-mpi-thread-multiple. Apparently OpenMPI-2.0 will have improved support for MPI_THREAD_MULTIPLE, but it is in release candidate status still.

Hello,

The issue mentioned above as a blocker has been resolved on Jun 21, 2016. Any Open MPI version starting from 1.10.3 supports MPI_THREAD_MULTIPLE correctly. It has even become the default and the option was removed altogether in version 3.0.0:

Based on this, could you please reconsider enabling thread support in this package for the upcoming Ubuntu 18.04 (Bionic) release?

Many thanks,
Raphael
