Bug Description

I just installed Ubuntu 11.10 and I am trying to use a X11 program.
In release 10.04, I installed libmotif3 and that worked. This package is not available for 11.10, but instead uses libmotif4, which does not have the libXm.so.3 library. I would hope that all the X11 components will continiue to be available for future releases, both for usage and compiling of X11 programs. Thanks.

What is the best way to work around this?

here are my ideas:
- install the package from 10.04
- compile the source from openmotif.org
- create a symlink libXm.so.3 -> libXm.so.4

How likely is the symlink to work? Which is the way to go?
