Bug Description

Description: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS
Release: 10.04

slapd:
  Installed: 2.4.21-0ubuntu5.3
  Candidate: 2.4.21-0ubuntu5.3

Slapd 2.4.21 has a memory leak in the syncprov module. Please see the bug report at http://www.openldap.org/its/index.cgi/Software%20Bugs?id=6459;page=3;usearchives=1.

This is fixed in openldap 2.4.22: http://www.openldap.org/software/release/changes.html

This is a critical memory leak -- under heavy load, our master ldap server will consume memory until it crashes (at about 13.5GB consumned). The slave replica which has the exact same data consumes about 450MB.

I am also affected by this bug.

I recompiled slapd with the patch and it look like it works correctly.

After testing the patch in production, it doesn't fix the memory leak.
