Bug Description

1. Ubuntu version 11.10 with KDE
2. openjdk-6-jdk:
  Installed: 6b23~pre10-0ubuntu5
  Candidate: 6b23~pre10-0ubuntu5

Eclipse version 3.7.0 sets the default workspace to /home/<username>/workspace. If I want to change it at the start, Eclipse crashes right away. If I use the default, Eclipse loads up just fine, but if I want to change it afterwards it crashes again.

Same thing here with a fresh Kubuntu 12.04, see error log. Crashes every time when changing workspace.

Home-partition is aes-encryptet, maybe that relates?

Workaround: Change Workspace manually in config file
~home/.eclipse/org.eclipse.platform_3.7.0_155965261/configuration/.settings/org.eclipse.ui.ide.prefs

in my case to
RECENT_WORKSPACES=/home/[~home]/It/JavaWorkspace

I experience similar problems when selecting an workspace on a different mountpoint than the eclipse application files reside.
Is there any similarity to this bug?

I could post the error report which gets generated on a crash - if it's useful for someone...

BTW: I'm Using Eclipse Juno 4.2.2 with Oracle JRE 6.0_26
