Bug Description

OpenBVE is a 3D, public-domain, cross-platform railway/train simulator ("game") engine that specialises in driving realism. It is backwards compatible with route and train description files designed for 'BVE Trainsim', or which there are a huge number available for free-as-in-beer. However most of which have restrictions on distribution

URL: http://openbve.uuuq.com/en/downloads.html
License: Public Domain
Notes: Before packaging/uploading the engine, this needed to wait for Public Domain data-routes (a route and train) to upload aswell.

Agreement has now been reached (2009-02-18) for relicensing a route and a train as Public Domain from two other sources; .dfsg tarballs exist with the files with more restrictive Copyright files (Textures and Sounds) removed as instructed.

In total this should upload:

  openbve (engine)
openbve-data (engine GUI icons and translations)
openbve-data-icons (temporary from-scratch replacement for icons not distribute by upstream)

bvt-train-something-something (example train, sounds, textures, performance metrcs, cab)
bvt-route-something-something (example route, rail line, textures, sounds, model)

Shall also punt packages to Debian/sid after FF.

Received finale DFSG/public domain upstreams for route and train at 2009-02-18 22:00 UTC.

Uploaded openbve, openbve-data, openbve-data-icons accepted.

The program is self-standing; route+train upload to trickle up over GPRS.

openBVE 1.0 is out. Will it be uploaded in time for Jaunty release?

Sadly not... Feature freeze and Upstream Version Freeze are long gone (which is a pity as I've now tracked down most of the major bugs that were preventing OpenBVE working on Linux and got them upstream)

In a month the next version of Ubuntu will be open for uploads. (I just import 1.0.2.0 into git).
