tried to get rid of #1433411 by updating Xubuntu 14.04.2 from utopic to vivid kernel which seems to bear the same problem
expected to install openafs
received error message instead

I'm getting the same build errors on 14.04 systems with the vivid HWE. Coupled with lp:1433411, this makes impossible running OpenAFS on machines which require post-3.2 kernels.

As a workaround, I use the OpenAFS stable PPA: https://launchpad.net/~openafs/+archive/ubuntu/stable

Somehow the f_dentry problem persists even though it is now openafs-modules-dkms 1.6.7-1ubuntu1.
