In Ubuntu 15.04 Beta1, when open-vm-tools is installed, it will not start automatically after a reboot. It runs after the commanad (as root):

Indeed, this was fixed in Debian a while ago. The package doesn't use dh-systemd and "--with systemd", that should be sufficient. We are a dozen versions behind, this package is in need of some merging. Subscribing the last few uploaders (Robert, Ben, Robie), could you please look into this?

I'm taking a look at importing the latest from Debian.

Synced from Debian. I've dropped the Ubuntu customizations so that we are a whole lot closer to Debian, including support for vmhgfs.
