Bug Description

We have reports from users on these carriers in Germany
- Kabel Deutschland
- Simply (O2)
- Vodafone(D2)
- Telekom(D1)
- Klarmobil, (MVNO Telekom deutschland network 900MHZ)
- Alditalk (E-Plus network 1800Mhz, from Telefonica group)

In general, our APN db has pretty poor coverage in Germany. I see a grand total of five carriers listed. This means that the customers in question are most likely entering their APNs manually.

Unfortunately, the carrier name by itself isn't sufficient to tell. To uniquely identify a carrier, we need the name, Mobile Country Code ( mcc ), and Mobile Network Code ( mnc ).

Taking a quick look at our APN db, I two possible matches:

Vodafone (D2) ----> Vodafone DE: mcc=262 mnc=02
Telekom (D1) ------> Telekom Internet: mcc=262 mnc=01

Telekom Internet does specify authtype=1, so that's the same as bug #1435784.
The APN for Vodafone DE doesn't specify an 'authtype', but until we know that the carrier details ( mcc/mnc ), we can't confirm.

In addition to the mobile network codes for these carriers, it would also be helpful to get the Internet APN details for these carriers. For the four that aren't in our db, this would include:

apn ( an abbreviation for access point name )
username
password
authtype ( if specified )

Also, if any MMS details ( mmsc, mmsproxy/port ) would be useful as well, although not directly relevant to getting Internet working.

I tried a bunch of sims here, and have:

  * Vodafone
  * Telekom
  * 1&1 (MVNO, D1, D2 and E-Plus)
  * AldiTalk, both types of flats
  * 02 Prepaid
  * Simyo Prepaid

working out of the box.

@Thomas

Per my earlier request, can you please provide the mobile network code for these carriers that you've tested? You can find this by running the script /usr/share/ofono/list-modems, and look for MobileNetworkCode property under the SimManager interface.

Support reports that in all cases re-entering the same APN info as was already displayed allowed data to come up.
Some of the values:
Simply (o2-Netz) Internet APN = "internet.victorfox", Username & pass empty.
Kabel Deutschland, works with Internet APN entered manually
Pepephone ( vodafone Spain ) Internet APN: gprsmov.pepephone.com; Username & pass empty
MasMovil ( Orange network ) --> Internet APN: int.socialmas

Checking the APN database several of these are not present, so it seems that the customers simply entered the value for their provider.
