Bug Description

Binary package hint: offlineimap

I guess that was because another Offlineimap was running at the same time. I'm a muttng user and I have OfflineImap at the crontab in order to refresh my mailbox. Sometime I refresh the mailbox manually. So, when I do that and in the same time the crontab execute the command, I get the error. Before upgrading from 6.10 to 7.04, if the crontab fail I did not relalize. Now, I get the 'report bug' windows every time. (Even if check to do not report more crashes of the same application). So, I guess that is not a bug of offlineImap, it's normal to get this exception. What is not normal is to get the bug reporter every time.
Thanks for maintain Ubuntu, it's really nice. (Even you do not suppor powerpc officially... :( )

Got this. I think the exception just needs to be caught.

I think this would solve the problem.

I'm still getting the same issue, using 5.99.4 version. I guess that the exception should be a warning, because this function is a called when another offlineimap is detected.
I guess that this would really solve the problem.

In general offlineimap uses exceptions to report almost all errors. It could be argued to change this; it should then be reported as a wishlist bug against upstream: http://packages.debian.org/sid/offlineimap

Regarding apport, it is only turned on during development, so the behavior experienced is correct. They can be annoying, but that is exactly why they are turned off.

offlineimap crashing is indeed intentional from upstream, see: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=494198
