OCRfeeder cannot be started from GNOME-shell

As descirbed above. I have to start a terminal and type ocrfeeder to start the application.

Doesn't work in Unity as well.

Bug seems to persist since some years. A workaround is described here:

Maybe this workaround could be the base for a fix?
