I have NVIDIA GeForce 7100 / nForce 630i and am having the same problems cited by folks using GeForce 7050 / nForce 610i. Manually installing the latest driver from the nVidia website (with the help of Envy) got the graphics to work properly. Although there are still imperfections, at least X starts now without going into low graphics mode, and I can get the proper resolution for my screen rather than the 800x600 it was forcing on me previously.

See http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=725474 for details about my audio situation, which remains unresolved.

both sound and graphics can be made to work.

Sound -- install the latest ALSA:

Graphics -- install the latest Nvidia driver uploaded on Feb 26, 2008.
See the above thread.

I also have this motherboard (just bought it). I'm now trying these tricks to make sure it actually works.

(PS: this nearly shocked me right through...)

Workaround/fix is here:

I've confirmed these fixes work. I have ZOTAC N73V-AC7V motherboard that uses NForce 610i / GeForce 7050 and it works with this.

Conclusion:
* update-pciids supports at least part of these PCI stuff
* newest ALSA supports it
* newest NVIDIA proprietary driver supports it

Please make into Hardy! -- And release updated drivers for Gutsy (or Edgy, or ...)

Thanks

Alsa on my GA-73VM-S2 with Nvidia7050/nForce610i chipset + Realtek ALC662 codec started to work after
snd-hda-intel in modbrobe.conf (or modprobe.preload) was enabled.
And Nvidia 7050/nForce 610i vga started to work after i installed
Linux Display Driver - x86 Version: 171.06.
Version: 169.07 didn't work on that board.
