Bug Description

Description: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
Release: 12.04

i have an Asus N55sf, it has Nvidia Gt555m optimus display card.

Addtional drivers can not detec any additional driver. After installed 12.04, ubuntu uses nouveau drivers.

I installed nvidia-current from repo.

When looked jockey-text --list for looking additional drivers after install nvidia-current:

kmod:nvidia_current - nvidia_current (Proprietary, Enabled, Not in use)
kmod:nvidia_current_updates - NVIDIA binary Xorg driver, kernel module and VDPAU library (Proprietary, Disabled, Not in use)

and after this, lspci -v show this:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF106 [GeForce GT 555M] (rev ff) (prog-if ff)
 !!! Unknown header type 7f

All of is that, there is not any kernel module info.

nvidia-current:
  Installed: 295.40-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 295.40-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 295.40-0ubuntu1 0
        500 http://tr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/restricted amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I installed bumblebee 3. I am waiting your helps, thanks.

You need to purge the nvidia drivers and let bumblebee install them for use with optirun command. There's a reason that jockey does not offer nvidia drivers for Optimus systems...

thanks for reply, i did. But the output of lspci -v is same, like:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF106 [GeForce GT 555M] (rev ff) (prog-if ff)
 !!! Unknown header type 7f

output of "optirun lspci -v" is:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF106 [GeForce GT 555M] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Device 2050

 Kernel driver in use: nvidia
 Kernel modules: nvidia_current, nouveau, nvidiafb

And i can see the increase of fps, when run "optirun glxspheres" instead of "glxspheres"

Am i using the nvidia-current driver correctly?

And, i cant hdmi output, unfortunetely.

Hello, also an ASUS N55SF at my possession. I've installed bumblebee from the PPA and the issue seems to be resolved.
There seems to be no more crazy heat coming out of the air vents and by running `optirun nexuiz` it ran smoothly and nicely as opposed to running `nexuiz` which was a bit choppy (using the Intel driver I persume).

I've marked this bug as Invalid since there Optimus issue is not specific to this computer and already covered everywhere, and since this is only a support request to make Bumblebee work.
