Bug Description
This laptop has worked fine with previous release of ubuntu with both - default and prioprietary nvidia driver.
After install of 12.04 I is having screen issues.
When running straight after install without additional drivers screen has wrong resolution and freezes when screen goes blank.
When running Nvidia driver it dies after logging into 3D unity or using 3D effects in Unity 2D.

I believe I have the same problem, on the latest (295.33) nvidia-current -- I filed #972039 in case it's a different cause.

Hi
I have reinstalled Precise Pengolin using Beta 2 disk and laptop was working fine. I say was, because it was till today when I have updated it. It is failing with compiz and I have raised another bug 985893
Please let me know if you want to close one of them and want me to do any more testing.
cheers
Daz
I have just realised that compiz problem after last update was caused by updater crash - it has happened when I has watching youtube while updating system.
I have booted to the recovery mode and run "dpkg --reconfigure -a" and system is now fine.
All working fine without need for the Nvidia proprietary drivers so I think we can close this ticket.

The 295.33 driver was updated in Ubuntu recently. Please re-test after updating to that version, and report back here if that resolves the issue. It includes improved compatibility with recent Linux kernels, which potentially could have some relevance to this issue.
