lightdm frequently fails to start

Most times (but not always) I start up Ubuntu lightdm fails to start, hitting ctrl+alt+f1 and starting it manually (sude service lightdm start) works. the lighdm log give me:

Thank you for your bug report, could you add the "x-0.log" and "x-0-greeter.log" to the bug?

The error to do with nv in x-0.log is odd as I am using the proprietary nvidia driver. It also doest explain why it sometimes does load...

seems like your issue is rather with the nvidia driver than lightdm...

I have exactly the same problem on my PC using a GTX460. I have no idea if the problem is inside LightDM or the nvidia driver. The latter works perfectly once started manually.
