Bug Description

In Xubuntu 11.10 - using nVidia drivers [nvidia-current 280.13-0ubuntu6] - dual-screens. [not sure if this is a factor]
LibreOffice version Installed: 1:3.4.3-3ubuntu2

LibreOffice seems to not like being resized from the top or left sides of the window [or the top-left or bottom-right corners].
If I resize from the bottom or right sides, it works fine and the window redraws normally [if a bit slow and klunky]. If I resize from the left or top sides/corners, the window does not redraw properly. It make it look as if the part you resized down has just disappeared, so for instance you can no longer see the title-bar or menu-bar if you resize down from the top. If you resize up or out from the top/left edges, it still doesn't redraw properly, and the added window space is filled with what appears to be corrupted desktop image data.

Once the window is corrupted, alt-dragging the window doesn't help, but if you maximize then unmaximize the window [say from the task-bar] it then redraws properly.

I've run across no other programs which exhibit this issue, only LibreOffice.

I'd like to add that it was doing this in Natty as well before I upgraded, I just hadn't gotten around to putting in a bug for it.

I see exactly the same behaviour on xubuntu 11.10 64bit
on a desktop machine (Sandy Bridge w/ integrated GPU) and
on a notebook (core2duo based).
both using the intel xorg driver.

So I don't think that's (only) nvidia related.

I am running Cataylst drivers on ATI hardware and see the same behavior. This needs to be moved to a more general topic than nvidia driver bug.

Also, it may be related, but often times the window will open with the title bar and menus offscreen top left. Have to use the keyboard to move it back.

I have the same problem here on my Xubuntu Precise Pangolin.
It was already present running Xubuntu Oneiric.
The only application that shows this is LibreOffice (didn't try OpenOffice)
and it only happens with the Xfce desktop (I tested KDE and Gnome Shell
and the bug didn't appear there).

The LibreOffice writer window only resizes correctly when dragging its right edge
or the bottom right corner.

I'd like to add that this is doesn't appear to be specific to Ubuntu. I encounter the same issue in Debian Squeeze.

Uh Huh!! There is a WORKAROUND!!
When I installed the packages for gtk integration ( libreoffice-gtk3 and libreoffice-gtk ),
resize started working correctly.
Great! :D

I can verify that on the Debian Squeeze side, after installing "openoffice.org-gtk", I am able to resize the window normally without any issues.

Fully solved for Debian 6 Squeeze - There is now a libreoffice-gtk package. Installing it, and restarting libreoffice, fixed the behavior. By the way, I too am using Xfce.

That version is no more supported; please open a new bug report if the actual archive found version also has the same issue.
