Bug Description

1. boot machine
2. open a terminal and a browser window
3. see that xorg CPU usage is low (< 5%) and always below compiz
4. open 3 more terminals and 3 more browser windows

see that xorg CPU usage is HIGH (somewhere between 30-80%) when window content is being updated (scroll down on a web page).
when the window content is not being updated xorg still uses ~10% of the CPU.

If I happen to have a monitor and I go to "NVIDIA X Server Settings" and change the configuration of monitors the problem goes away...
   xorg uses very little CPU.
Now, if I open another window or two the problem with come back.

thank you for your bug report, that seems an nvidia driver issue rather than an unity one though

affects: unity (Ubuntu) → nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu)

Hold your horses...
this problem does not occur when using gnome3.
It's the same xorg driver.
