(sometimes, the error is much longer)

This alert appears on login, and as long as the alert is opened, all windows (including the panel and desktop) use an ugly "default" theme, icons and font).
I have set a Twinview configuration in nvidia-settings with 2 screens.

It happens also on Ubuntu 12.04, but I don't have a dual monitor, just the screen of my laptop..and there is no problem with the icons, the theme, ecc..everything is fine besides the error after the login and some problems with reboot/switchoff/logout..

Removing ~/.config/monitors.xml resolved this for me (same symptoms Andrea Amoroso reported) on Ubuntu 12.04, using only my laptop's screen.

I got it on Precise after I connected external TV. Bug remained after disconnecting and rebooting. I am just to try removing ~/.config/monitors.xml

I am using ubuntu 12.04 LTS
And I have an Nvidia graphic card, with a driver version 295.40
I have a new Dell Latitude laptop E6420, with a Intel® Core™ i7-2640M CPU @ 2.80GHz × 4 processor
I have it attached to a docking station at my office with 2 Samsun monitors.
I can get them to work using the Nvidia X server settings, but everytime I turn it on this error appears and I have to reconfigue it manually. I'm attaching a screenshot of the error message.
Hope it helps to fix the bug!

Question is, what is it there for? What are the consequences of removing it?
