Repainting problems on desktop after upgrating to Natty

Bug #810240 reported by Javi Molina on 2011-07-14

nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

After upgrading to Natty I started to see that there are problems repainting the desktop.

As I work through the day, suddenly blocks of the screen are replaced by what it is the background picture, in other cases it is the border of a window that should be behind the one that is bring to first plane.

I started to use Unity and then switched to Ubuntu Classic to start discarding possible culprits. Currently I am running ubuntu classic.

I was running nvidia driver 275.09.07 when running Maverick, and have tried natty supplied driver as well with no difference at all. I
Currently I am running external nvidia driver 275.09.07 as the Ubuntu Additional drivers application failed to restore the previous driver.

I think this problem has been previously reported but I struggle to find similar bug reports.

Hey javich,

You filed this bug report against natty, but I see it's still open and
doesn't appear to have much activity recently. So, now that oneiric
is released and stable, this may be a good point for you to upgrade
and re-test if this issue is still present there.

If it's solved in the new release and you think it's worth backporting
the fix, please indicate that. Or if having the fix in the new release
is good enough, feel free to close out the bug (or let us know and we'll
close it.)

If it's not solved, leave the bug report open. I can't promise we'll
get to it (we get way more bugs filed than we can usually get to), but
your testing and feedback can help out if and when we do.

Bug has not appeared on oneiric and I don't think is worth trying to find a solution for natty at this stage.

I am happy to have this bug closed.

status: Incomplete → Fix Committed

That version is no more supported; please open a new bug report if the actual archive found version also has the same issue.
