unity mouse pad three-finger paste stopped working

In unity on 11.04 on a Macbook pro 6,2 the touchpad used to have two-finger scroll and three-finger taps for pasting text (in a terminal or elsewhere). The 3-finger taps don't work anymore. A workaround is exchanging buttons using synclient:
'synclient TapButton2=2 ; synclient TapButton3=3', but this disables other features (like zooming in gnuplot x11 windows).

I don't know to which package/process this issue is related, since synclient works, so somewhere a configuration has been changed.
