Bug Description

hi developers,

in LinuxMint 11 it is not possible to make the system use this driver. Always when I want to install the nvidia-current-modaliases, synaptic wants to remove the following packages:

* nvidia-common

* nvidia-current

First I did not understand why this is the case. But at a closer look, I found out this:

these packages have different version-numbers. In my Synaptic, the package nvidia-current is shown with the version-number
270.41.06-0ubuntu1. But the package nvidia-current-modaliases has the version-number 260.19.26-0ubuntu1~xup.
I think, this is a possible reason, why this does not work. I think, the package nvidia-current-modaliases needs an update to the version of nvidia-current. Please fix this.
But what I do not understand is, why it wants to remove nvidia-common, which is shown with version 0.2.30 in my synaptic. Perhaps this needs an update too??
Then I wanted to add, that I have the ppa-repository of the ubuntu-x-swat-team already installed in my system!
Please let me konw, how to fix this.

Then some more information about my system:

architecture: x86_64

Kernel is 2.6.38-8-generic

my graphic-card is this one: 02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation C79 [GeForce 9200M G] (rev b1)

after not seeing any development in this bug, I searched the Internet for more information and found, that this package nvidia-current-modaliases had been removed from the ubuntu-dist. My question is now: why? Please give some information on this.

This should not have been done, because the package nvidia-current (proprietary nvidia-driver) depends on this package!! Please put it back into the dist. I think, this will fix up many other issues I found here with nvidia-packages.
