I'm seeing a very similar issue:

After upgrading to nvidia-current 195.36.15-0ubuntu3 from nvidia-current 195.36.15-0ubuntu2 my MacMini (GeForce 9400) fails load the nivdia driver.
The driver seems to be present, but fails to load under X with the following error:

(**) NVIDIA(0): Option "NoLogo" "True"
(**) Jun 11 14:31:58 NVIDIA(0): Enabling RENDER acceleration
(II) Jun 11 14:31:58 NVIDIA(0): Support for GLX with the Damage and Composite X extensions is
(II) Jun 11 14:31:58 NVIDIA(0): enabled.

Downgrading to nvidia-current 195.36.15-0ubuntu2 solves the issue.

Exactly as above in Nikolaj's post. I just ran an update .... and I assume this updated me to 0ubuntu3, now X doesn't initialise and I get the error described. Downgrading to 0ubuntu2 fixes it...
