Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

I am currently running Ubuntu 64-bit 10.04 Lucid. To change the login looks, one must enter the Virtual Console by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1. When any of the ttys other than tty7 are tried to be accessed, all that appears are Colorful Squares where the text should be. The boot screen will also not appear properly, as it is extremely distorted. I was told this was a video driver issue to be fixed in the final release i am running, however on a Nvidia GeForce 6150LE (6150) intergrated motherboard, this is an issue

same here on nVidia C77 [GeForce 8200 G] (rev a2)
The question is: are we talking about nouveau FOSS driver? There is still some nVidia tools left on this laptop and I got xserver-xorg-video-nouveau installed too.

Still not sure: with "glxinfo -v "I get

OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
OpenGL renderer string: GeForce 8200M G/PCI/SSE2
OpenGL version string: 3.2.0 NVIDIA 195.36.24
Plus I have 3D effects enabled.

Ok, this finally makes sense. I do have proprietary nvidia driver contrary to the reporter in the Xorg.0.log
the reporter's:
 (II) Loading extension NV-GLX
mine :
(II) NVIDIA GLX Module 195.36.24 Thu Apr 22 19:52:00 PDT 2010
So, Do I have to file another bug report?

I'm not sure why this was assigned to nouveau; both reports seem to be using the nvidia binary drivers.

You might find that this works better if you don't set “vga=…” on the kernel prompt.

affects: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau (Ubuntu) → nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu)

That version is no more supported; please open a new bug report if the actual archive found version also has the same issue.
