I'm running Lucid on a laptop with an nVidia GeForce Go 7600 graphics controller. After upgrading to the proprietary current (recommended) nvidia driver, the mysteriously freezes as I'm typing in a terminal. Actually, the display just froze as I was typing this sentence and then unfreezes after a minute or so.

That version is no more supported; please open a new bug report if the actual archive found version also has the same issue.
