Bug Description

NOTE: I hope this is filed correctly against Unity. If not, please change it to the appropriate package. Filing against nvidida-current or nvidia-graphics-drivers did not work with ubuntu-bug!

When running the latest daily built of 13.04 and choosing "Try Ubuntu without installing", thus launching the LiveCD, one of the monitors in my laptop/external screen dual-monitor set-up is upside down. See the attached photo for proof, since when I take a sreenshot everything looks normal.

Note that up to the screen where you choose between installing right away or testing Ubuntu the problem did not exist. However, in that screen window decorations did not draw and the monitors were just mirrored.

Unrelated note: I was surprised to see that proprietary drivers are on the .iso now, but that is a change I appreciate. Everything works so much better this way.

Hi,

We need to figure out if this is an X/driver issue or a problem with compiz transforming the screen incorrectly.

Please try:
  1. Save your work!
  2. killall compiz
  3. Is one screen still upside down? I know you will lose Unity and window decorations when you do this but that's expected.
Please take another photo when you have done that.

You should also check the nvidia-settings dialog for related settings. The contents of Xrandr.txt do not seem to show any inversion being applied. But the driver could be doing it at a lower level.

The problem persits after killing compiz. See attachment.

Could you please delete any files that you have evaluated and contain possibly sensitive information?

PS: I also checked the nvidia-settings tool. I did not find any option for rotating the screen, and everything looked normal.

Does not seem to be Compiz' fault.
Please open System Settings->Displays and check the rotation settings for your displays there.

Thanks. Yes this is not a compiz issue, but an X or Nvidia problem.

I have changed the bug back to Private. Please remove any attachments that may contain "sensitive information" so we can open it to Public again.
