Tries all possible monitor modes when the monitor is not connected at startup

Bug Description

I have configured two displays, the one builtin in the laptop + an external one.
When I turn on the computer without the screen connected, I get the ridiculously long error message attached below.
I don't think it's necessary to try each and every display mode just to detect that no screen is connected at all.

Normal behavior would be a message such as "Configured display is not connected", and possibly a checkbox like "don't show this message next time".

Additionally, the error popup window is huge because it display the full message instead of having a scroller, but I guess that's another package's bug.
