computer won't shutdown

After installing nvidia-current driver with jokey my dell xps m1330 laptop won't compleetely shutdown. When i try to switch notebook off I finish with blank screen and hear hard drive heads parking. Then I need to poweroff notebook with long pressing the power button.
I've tried adding option acpi=force to kernel, but it didn't change anything.

I don't have shutdown problem after removing drivers.
Also with v.173 it shuts down normally, but I have problems with displaying sites content in web browser.

Computer shutdown normally if I don't login.
Even If I try to rmmod nvidia before shutdown it doesn't help.

Will continue investigating problem.

I am having a similar problem on my laptop since I upgraded to 12.10. It won't shutdown (it does restart though), but I am not using nvidia drivers, only open source Intel and AMD drivers.

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

My solution was to update from
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates/ubuntu precise main

Now everything works as expected. But I'm still interested in the problem reason.
