Sujet : Re: [Bug 576648] Re: package nvidia-* failed to install/upgrade:   nvidia-*   kernel module failed to build (Unable to determine the   target   kernel version.)

 Hello,

I have an ubuntu 11.04 and upgraded the kernel to 3.0.
Result: blank screen.
Solution: start the kernel without X (in grub: 'set gfxpayload=text'),
and run ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-275.28.run
--kernel-source-path=/usr/src/linux-2.6.
This fixes the problem, and ubuntu 11.04 is running fine now with kernel
3.0.

Regards,
Jürgen

Brand new install of 10.04 onto a formatted hard drive. The upgrade
icon said there was a restricted driver available - I clicked it. When
I was running a Windows XP VMWare image, the video seemed to
completely reset. I had to shut down and restart.
