Stuck in low res mode.

Tried to install Linux drivers as per the nvidia website. Seemed to work until I got to the login screen. There, no matter who I choose to login, as soon as a selection is made from the pick list, the screen reset back to the initial list. No one can login in. I do the Alt f1 to get a text screen, and I can login in fine. I backed out the nvidia driver, now the login screen works, but i'm stuck in low res.
