Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Openoffice was automatically installed with Ubuntu 8.10, I guess it's version 2.4.

Assuming you're running Compiz, try switching to Metacity and see if that solves the problem. The package fusion-icon will help with this.

Could be a dupe of 220443. But that's for upgrading to Hardy. See bug 297836 for specifics in dealing with an upgrade to Intrepid that involves OO.o, compiz, and nVidia 96.43.09. Mark as a dupe of 297836 if this is your issue.
