nvidia driver installed but i cant use nvidia card the system keeps using intel graphic device

nvidia driver installed but i cant use nvidia card the system keeps using intel graphic device, i cant switch to nvidia and cant enquery the card, when i use nvidia-smi i got the following output:

NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running.
