Bug Description
I am using Xubuntu 18.04 64 bit with a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and nvidia driver 390.48.
VLC is freezing X screen at start of a video sometimes.
I could then switch to text console with ATL+f2 and kill vlc. This is remove the freeze of X.

This looks like a bug in the display drivers though. A bug in VLC can only crash the VLC process, not the whole X server.
