Driver crashes because of mismatch with nvidia-settings-binary

Bug Description

It's possible to have the 375.39 version of the driver and 375.26 version of nvidia-settings installed at the same time. That can result in a black screen with no graphics.

Version .39 is a security upgrade, so many people will install it automatically, and those with the settings binary will subsequently wonder why they are now losing their graphics, as I did. It will not be obvious to non-technical users.
