Bug Description

CID: 201307-14038 Dell Vostro 5470

With the proprietary nvidia-331 (331.113-0ubuntu0.0.4 ) driver installed, the external monitor does not work as expected in extended mode. It looks like it's splitted and shifted.
09:00.0 3D controller [0302]: NVIDIA Corporation GK208M [GeForce GT 740M] [10de:1292] (rev a1)

Steps:
1. Install 14.04.1 + updated + nvidia driver
2. Connect an external monitor to it.

Expected result:
* External monitor should work in every mode.

Actual result:
* It's mis-aligned in extended mode

This issue does not exist with the open-source driver, or with the proprietary driver but in power-saving mode (running on Intel GPU).

This issue also affects nvidia-331-updates (331.113-0ubuntu0.0.4)

From the version number I think maybe it's the same driver with nvidia-331

Oh, yes, please feel free to mark this one as duplicated.

Also affects 201211-12070 Dell Vostro 5460 with nVidia GF117M [10de:1140]
With the identical syndrome.

I was wondering if all I+N systems are affected.

Same problem here!

  - I have a Dell Precision M6800
  - nVidia Quadro K31000M, driver version 331.113
  - kubuntu 14.04, amd64
  - xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.910-0ubuntu1.3

The extended monitor is splittted and shifted indeed and does not seem to have any acceleration. Visualization is laggy and even the mouse pointer is not moving over it smoothly.
Hope it can be fixed soon? Is the general recommendation to roll-back to Nouveau?

Same here:

- Asus S46CB
- Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
- NVidia GeForce GT 740M
- VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09)
- 3D controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK107M [GeForce GT 740M] (rev a1)

The behavior is the same of the comment above.

I hope it will be fixed.

Hi Andrey,

Please avoid to leave comment like Me too, +1... etc

You can click on "This bug affects 1 person. Does this bug affect you?" to state that you're affected as well.

Also, as you can see from the bottom of this page: "Comment here only if you think the duplicate status is wrong."

And this bug should be fixed in 2015-02-09, you can check bug 1405325 for more detail.
Thanks
