Bug Description

* nvidia-319 is a "transitional" package that redirects to nvidia-331

* nvidia-331 DOES NOT support GeForce 210

* nvidia-173 (next step down) also DOES NOT support GeForce 210

Therefore, there is not a binary driver installable with apt-get that supports the GeForce 210. nVIDIA's official stance is that those with this card should use the 319.xx driver series which is no longer available.

I somehow missed nvidia-304.

HOWEVER, Ubuntu will try to install nvidia-331 for this card, which will not work.

I find it odd that the 331.xx driver does not list support for the 210, but does support the 310 (basically a rebadged 210) and older generations of cards. Perhaps you should contact nvidia about the matter..

Ubuntu 14.04/Trusty has reached End of Life (EoL) for standard support and the nvidia-331 package is not included in the Extended Security Maintenance plan: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityTeam/ESM/14.04#A14.04_Infrastructure_ESM_Packages

The Geforce 210 should be supported by the 340.xx legacy driver in current Ubuntu releases: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/unix/legacy-gpu/

If this issue still exists in supported Ubuntu releases, please re-open this bug or file a new one: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases
