Bug Description

nvidia-304 is not available in the Ubuntu 18.04. Newer versions are available but I have an old nVidia 7600 GT, so I need 304.137.

I searched online and found that at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/bionic/amd64/nvidia-304/304.137-0ubuntu2 it has Status: Deleted :(

Could you please pack this for the new release of Ubuntu?

Looks like it was removed from bionic due to bug 1748000. (Found via the publishing history link in the upper right corner on the package overview page, see https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-304/+publishinghistory for details)

affects: ubuntu → nvidia-graphics-drivers-304 (Ubuntu)

Unmaintained or not, it's the only driver that works correctly with my card.

From
http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/123709/en-us

Version: 304.137
Release Date: 2017.9.19

2017.9.19 isn't really far away, and Seth Forshee (sforshee) has already provided a patch months ago on bug 1737750 for it.

Please provide it in Ubuntu 18.04 again.

This is truly sad when a vendor that built it's business on having good drivers has fallen so far to deprecate a perfectly good workstation/server grade video card in my server because they won't release updates. I really need this fixed.

I would just like to add I wish it worked too, for an older system with an older video card and crt monitor. The neavau driver is causing the mouse pointer to intermittently disappear when changing resolutions and a solution (for older ubuntu) was to switch to nvidia drivers.

There may be a good reason why not to fix and provide it for Ubuntu 18, but no explanation provided.
