Bug Description

After installing nvidia-current and by default the nvidia-prime drivers I am unable to login.

Originally posted on the ubuntu forums. Considering this issues has happened to me every time I've tried to install drivers (wiped the disk and reinstalled three times) I'd like to elevate this for further examination.

Here I posted to the ubuntu forums with my dmesg, xorg logs, display information, specs
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2324860

1 - Ubuntu 16.04

2 - nvidia-current package

nvidia-current:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 304.131-0ubuntu3
  Version table:
     304.131-0ubuntu3 500
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/restricted amd64 Packages
nvidia-prime:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 0.8.2
  Version table:
     0.8.2 500
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3 - I expected to login to the desktop.

4 - I can see the login screen but am unable to proceed beyond it. The xorg log in my link is not promising.
