Xorg crashes after installing an applicaiton from software centre

I was installing an applicaiton from previous purchases in software centre. After about 5 minutes or so, i am unsure what was happening when it froze but eventallly the screen stops responding and if left the computer will crash.

The computer crashes to the login screen, i should make that clear

For some reason changes to compiz caused the crash, when i restored to defaults by erasing all my session details it worked fine.... the question is what caused the crash???? at least what package
