Bug Description

I have Karmic Koala alpha 2, video NVidia 6600 GT. After installing NVidia drivers ver 185.18.14 and enabling twinview everything seems to be ok except GDM login screen. It is shown on secondary display. And this is not comfortable at all.

I also have NVIDIA twinview enabled.
However, in my experience, the GDM login prompt does not always show on the secondary monitor.
What actually determines its positioning is the current location of the mouse cursor.

How can mouse be on the secondary monitor every time when I turn on my PC ?!
This bug appeared some weeks ago, when login screen was changed. Before if
was full screen login invitation and now it's a small window shown in the
center of screen with my wallpaper on the foreground.

Did I mentioned that I'm using Karmic Koala alpha 2 ?

Hi.

Finally i found this bug report! I have exactly the same behaviour here,
and was fighting with xorg.conf and nvidia settings, but nothing helped.

Yes, login window position depends on the mouse position, and the
mouse position seems to be on second screen at startup as default.
If you move the mouse to the primary screen as soon as you see
X starting, the login window position is ok.

Any chances to have this corrected? Perhaps, initializing the mouse
pointer on startup to position (x,y) = (width/2)-1, (height/2)-1 ...

greetings

Before Karmic, the gdm window appeared under the mouse. (When you turn your computer on the mouse was always on the main display and it was fine).
Since Karmic and the new gdm, it appears mostly on the secondary screen, even if from time to time I have seen it on the primary screen (but I don't know why, and it did not seemed related to the mouse position). This is quite annoying when you like to switch on only one screen if you don't need the other.

Same problem here.
I'm using Karmic final (amd64) with nvidia-drivers v173 in twinview-mode. The login-screen is displayed on the secondary screen instead of the primary.

Same problem here... except I have an ATI 4650 HD. Login screen appear on the second monitor.

It's very annoying... it did work correctly under jaunty but since the karmic update it doesn't work anymore.

It's strange that there is no way to configure GDM to show the login on the correct display.

Also my mouse pointer appear in between the two monitor when starting... but that was also the case on jaunty still there the login appeared on the correct monitor.
