X crashes during browsing internet

Bug Description

I was stumbling the internet, screen turned black, and the login screen appeared.

Ubuntu 9.04 2.6.28-11-generic

kern.log:
gnome-appearanc[5167]: segfault at bf33851c ip b61e875f sp bf338520 error 6 in libQtGui.so.4.5.0[b5cf1000+9c6000]
Xorg[3897]: segfault at 1c ip b6507209 sp bf8c3a50 error 4 in nvidia_drv.so[b64b9000+3b4000]

More info needed? please ask. And tell me how to retrieve this info.

Hi tazthecat, can you please run the command:
apport-collect 368081

Ideally this command should be run straight after the crash happens because then there is still a record of the crash in the xorg.log file. In most cases it will also work fine to run it on the first login after the crash but the best thing is to login from another machine using ssh while the crashed machine is still at the GDM login prompt.

Anyway, even if you rebooted several times already please run the above command so we can see what hardware you have and sort the bug properly. Thanks.

I've posted a new version of the -nvidia driver to our xorg-edgers PPA,
would you mind testing it either on Jaunty or Karmic and see if it
resolves this bug?
